talc.’s media arts programme is looking for a creative young person interested in designing an item of clothing (in a wider sense).
Depending on your ideas and design, you can learn the following techniques:
– creating patterns with Adobe Illustrator
– digital textile printing
– laser engraving and cutting fabric
– sewing and
– adding sensors to the piece to make it responsive (for example to create sound or light)
You will learn the necessary skills at talc. and can use talc.’s resources on dedicated dates. The process and result of your work will be used to present the creative possibilities to other young people – we will want you to present the piece on 1-2 dates.
You will participate in the four Wednesday After school drop-in sessions after the spring holidays – of course you can continue beyond this, if you want to 🙂
Duration: 11 April – 16 May, please try to be available every Tuesday and Wednesday after school, occasionally on a Saturday to get things done.
Payment: You will receive a small fee of £200 and can additionally use a material budget of £200 + travel costs.
Skills required: Please be experimental! Sewing skills are an advantage, but not necessary. Any technical or computer experience will be valuable, too (only the fun bits). You should be happy to present and document your work.
Any questions? Would you like to apply?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone: 01880 820135 (ask for Nicole or Stefan) as soon as possible. talc.’s website: www.talc.org.uk
And tell us, why you are interested in the opportunity.
Additionally for the duration May – August we will be looking for a creative young person, interested in kinetic arts. We will post more information about this opportunity soon.
